This section of IEC 60974 outlines the safety and construction standards for torches used in arc welding and related processes.
Within this standard, a torch comprises the torch body, cable-hose assembly, and additional components.
This part of IEC 60974 does not apply to electrode holders used in manual metal arc welding or to torches designed for air-arc cutting or gouging.
NOTE: In this section of IEC 60974, the terms “torch” and “gun” can be used interchangeably. For simplicity, the term “torch” is used throughout the following text.
