This section of IEC 60384 applies to fixed direct current capacitors, designed for rated voltages not exceeding 6300 V. They utilize a polyethylene-terephthalate film as the dielectric and thin metal foil electrodes. For capacitors with rated voltages exceeding 1000 V, additional testing and requirements may be specified in the detail specification.
The capacitors covered by this standard are intended for use in electronic equipment.
Note: Capacitors designed for radio interference suppression are not included in this standard; however, they are covered by IEC 60384-14 (see bibliography).
