This section of IEC 60909 includes data on electrical equipment collected from various countries for use in calculating short-circuit currents in accordance with IEC 60909-0.
Generally, manufacturers provide this information on the nameplate or through the electricity supplier.
However, in some cases, the data may not be readily available. The data presented in this report can be used to calculate short-circuit currents in low-voltage networks if they are consistent with typical equipment used in the user’s country. The collected data and their evaluation can also be used for medium- or high-voltage planning purposes and for comparison with data provided by manufacturers or electricity suppliers. For overhead lines and cables, the electrical data may sometimes be calculated from physical dimensions and materials following the equations outlined in this report.
Thus, this technical report is an addition to IEC 60909-0. However, it does not alter the basis for the standardized calculation procedure provided in IEC 60909-0 and IEC 60909-3.
