These capacitors come with metallized connecting pads or solder strips and are meant for direct mounting onto hybrid circuit substrates or printed circuit boards. Depending on their usage conditions, these capacitors may exhibit “self-healing properties.” They are mainly intended for scenarios where the alternating current (a.c.) component is minimal compared to the rated voltage. Capacitors intended for radio interference suppression are not covered by this standard, as they fall under the scope of IEC 60384-14.
